19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents his initial championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on court had prompted some to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
